Dear Why Team member,
I hope this week’s message finds you well and enjoying the Fall Season.

Have you ever noticed how things seem to Fall into place - pun intended- in Fall? Children start school again and we, like them, are more on a schedule. I have yet to encounter someone who does not enjoy the leaves changing colors and the temperatures cooling off a bit from the summer heat. It's also time for us to take aim into a new phase of the year.

This week we ask:

Why Take Aim?

In past blogs, we have reviewed 4 keys to enhance our potential.
We looked at the importance of how we view our past. We discussed the courage to persevere in asking more questions and being patient to receive more answers. Then we looked at the power of letting go, to reduce suffering for our attachments and to open us up more to receive. And then lastly how it’s wise to be careful what we store in the vast reservoir of our minds; are we better for all that we have experienced or are we still bitter?

As we continue identifying keys that will unlock more of our potential, few keys are more powerful than taking Aim at a target. At no other time in human history have there been more distractions. Our hand-held devices alone are a constant distraction with their dings and pings. How many of us have fallen into the social media hole only to climb out feeling disempowered and off focus?
You may remember me sharing with you I've embarcked on Media-Fasting; that I actually started reading books rather than listen to them on audio. The geo-political climate and our own economical trials can surely accentuate the burdens we carry.

But, If we are to accomplish great things in our lives, we need a greater focus of our attention, and a greater concentration of our energy, to achieve success.
Consider the focused energy necessary to hammer a nail into wood; and the painful thumb if we lose focus.

To win, we must risk losing.
Those who don’t risk losing often live a life that’s not winning.
A goal that would demand development and growth also demands failure, or better, feedback.
For us to dig deeper than ever to unlock more of our deep-down potential, establish a specific aim, determine a target, and fire forward.

Consider a ship without a specific destination - it’s aimless - becoming listless at sea and not living out its purpose. The Aim for a ship is not to just stay afloat, but to actually serve a purpose. As the saying goes, a ship is safe in the harbor, but that’s not what it’s built for - it’s built for the open sea and its capabilities are known in the struggle with nature - made all the more possible with a destination, an aim, in which to focus its time and energy.

Those who have a WHY to live can handle almost any HOW. - Nietzsche

Decide on your targets and take Aim.
Don’t be aimless.

My golf game really improved when I was more specific with where I wanted the ball to land. Hitting the golf ball toward a general area does expand the room for error, so why do we do this? Why do we aim for a general area rather than a specific target?
Is it to avoid missing the mark - by not having one?
How are we to adjust our Aim if we don’t fire at a specific target?
When we miss the mark, don’t run from the truth, notice, adjust, refocus your Aim, and fire again!

We learn far more from our failures than from our successes. If we are to accomplish more and unlock more potential, we must try more even if we fail or lose; we must aim more and aim at difficult targets that require us to stretch ourselves.

Developing ourselves attitudinally by putting ourselves out-there more, is the only way to get more “out there” beyond our current abilities.

It is amazing what we can accomplish with specific aims in mind. Another example, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro really began months before we actually arrived at the mountain. It began the moment we set our Aim at the summit. That singular focus required that we organize our time and efforts, train, and prepare. We weren’t exercising; we were training with a specific target in mind: the summit at 19,341 feet.

To unlock more possibility, choose a higher target and aim your life toward it. Life and all of its challenges become less distracting and fade a bit into the background as you stay focused on your objective - discovering more about yourself and living more powerfully on purpose.
And just like the changing leaves of the season, change your direction and focus, if needed, but aim to live more on target to live your BEST LIFE EVER.

Make it a great week!
