Dear Why Team members, I hope this message finds you feeling great and leveraging your deepest WHY in order to serve and impact others in your life. This week I was reminded of a previous Why Team Weekly covering the work of author Daniel Pink since Joan Wetzel, a dear friend of our family is in Boston and will get to hear him speak tonight. As many of you know Mr. Pink writes bestselling books about business, work, and behavior. I have mentioned how his title Drive, where he uses 50 years of behavioral science to illustrate how to overturn the conventional wisdom about human motivation and offer a more effective path to high performance, has added to the long arc of my public speaking on what people believe shapes what they do. Here is a wonderful video where Mr. Pink was speaking to the RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, ) whose mission is to enrich society through ideas and action, about his work in Drive. It is well worth the time, and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did. As in his book, the video of Daniel Pink's speech shows us that "The science shows that the secret to high performance isn't our biological drive or our reward-and-punishment drive, but our third drive - our deep seated desire to direct our own lives, to extend and expand our abilities, and to live a life of purpose." With your new and expanded ways to serve, make it a great week, Steve Luckenbach Comments are closed.
